Ken Mellons Sits Down with Andrew Pope for Upcoming ‘Pickin’ It Out’ Podcast

The upcoming Ken Mellons Andrew Pope podcast conversation brings the two together for a special episode of Pickin’ It Out.

The visit brought Mellons and Pope together for a conversation centered around country music, Mellons’ career, and the stories behind a journey that began in Nashville more than three decades ago.

Known for one of the most unmistakably traditional voices of the 1990s, Mellons broke through with songs including “Jukebox Junkie” and “I Can Bring Her Back.” Today, those same recordings are reaching another generation of country listeners as Mellons experiences a renewed surge of attention through streaming and social media.

The timing made the conversation with Pope especially fitting. Mellons’ story is currently being documented in Still The Jukebox Junkie, the upcoming docudrama written, directed and produced by Corey Frizzell. The film chronicles Mellons’ life and career—from chasing a dream in Nashville and the success that followed, through the years away from the spotlight and the unexpected resurgence now introducing his music to a younger audience.

Frizzell joined Mellons for the visit with Pope and shared a few behind-the-scenes photographs from the day.
