Corey stepped into a new world this month designing the graphics for Shelly Rann's new Christmas album and revamping the design of her last album "Acoustic Heart". Shelly's new Christmas CD is special to both Shelly and Corey since it was a joint project. Not only did Corey handle the art direction but also co wrote with Shelly the only original song and the title cut called "In a place called perfect". Corey was finally able to present the portrait he created of his Dad Allen Frizzell to him. This portrait was part of Corey's first solo art exhibition called "Roots".

Shelly Rann co-hosted the #1 Country Radio show in Kentucky, 98.1 The Bull with radio personality John McNece and Corey was her guest. John McNece is also an aspiring music artist, you can check out his material on Myspace here. Shelly sang a couple of her original songs and spoke about her new production deal and up coming Christmas CD, while Corey talked about the busy year he's had and his new children's book partnership with Henry Paul from Blackhawk.

Paul Potter from England, web master of the Dottie West Fan Club web site sent a copy of the first official Fan Club Newsletter and article from the Dottie West Birthday tribute that Corey was commissioned to create a portrait for.

Sean Brady, webmaster for the Gene Watson tribute site sent a link to a page devoted to a get together Corey and country artist Joe Nichols had with Gene Watson at the Opry.

Corey and Shelly Rann were back out to George Jones house to drop of the 4th portrait Corey has created for George. The first one was created for their big house, this one was commissioned for their lake house.

Corey and Shelly Rann were guests on the legendary 650 WSM Radio station, home of the Grand Ole Opry. Corey answered questions about up coming events in his career including his book deal with Henry Paul from Blackhawk. Shelly played live and spoke about her production deal she's involved in and her new up comming Christmas CD.Malcolm West's Sunday racing show.

Corey and Shelly Rann headed over to Corey's uncle David Frizzell's house to present the portrait Corey created for David which was part of the Roots show. While there Shelly did some recording with David and Jimmy Fortune(Statler Brothers) for an upcoming project of David's.

Corey and Shelly Rann traveled to McMinnville, TN for the Dottie West birthday tribute and Country Music Hall of Fame campaign. Corey unveiled the portrait of Dottie created for the event and spoke to the people that gathered about the young man from England, Paul Potter, who was the driving force of this tribute, and the Hall of Fame campaign. Several of Dottie's family and friends were at the event.

Shelly and Corey were over to Henry Paul's house for dinner. Henry and Corey have been speaking for several months and have now made it official. They have partnered up, Corey will be illustrating a children's book that Henry has written. This project will take place over the next year, both are very busy, Corey with his portraits and Henry who is the lead singer for the group Blackhawk has a new album and is touring. Paul Potter, a huge Dottie West fan, commissioned Corey to create a portrait of Dottie for a tribute that he will be organizing along with a campaign to get Dottie inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame set to take place on her birthday October 11, 2006 in Mcminnville, TN. Corey was asked by Sean Brady, Web Master for a Gene Watson tribute site, to summit a quote about the legendary Gene Watson. Shelly Rann and Corey were back out to the great Whitey Shafer's home to give the portrait Corey created of Whitey from the Roots show to him.

Corey and Shelly Rann were guests of Willie Nelson and family at Starwood just outside of Nashville while Willie performed, opening for John Fogerty. Corey met with Willie to give him his portrait from the Roots show.

The key art piece from the Roots show sells! Corey's portrait of Lefty Frizzell is sold to Brandon Arriola from Texas. Brandon is a singer himself but most of all is a huge Lefty fan and credits Lefty as his biggest influence. This portrait was what the Roots show was all about, it is also the piece Corey used to show off his work each time he met with a new country artist for the show. This portrait was used as the image to publicise the show and appeared in countless internet articles, magazines including Country Weekly and TV. It is a very important piece representing Corey's musical heritage and the main portrait from Corey's first show. "Thanks Brandon, I hope you get years of enjoyment". Corey Frizzell.

Corey and Shelly Rann met with Mark Chesnutt to deliver Mark's portrait from the Roots show. Mark was in Nasville for one night for some recording for his new album.

Corey heads back to George Jones' house to deliver the portrait Nancy commissioned of their grandson.

Corey appears for the 2nd time in Country Weekly Magazine. This time Country Weekly covered the Roots show.

Corey exhibited four custom portraits at Billy Yates "Countriest of the Country" Fan Club party concert which was part of Fan Fair 2006. These portraits included an early and a late Lefty Frizzell, Keith Whitley and Billy Yates. Corey Created the Lefty portraits from personal family photos. The kieth Whitley portrait was created from a personal photo Kieth gave to Corey's dad, Allen, when they worked on the "Don't Close Your Eyes" album together and Billy picked out his own photo. Opening night reception to celebrate Roots. The Renaissance Center held a reception for Corey's first solo art exhibition. This show is a tribute show to Corey's musical heritage. Corey created portraits from personal family photos of his uncles Lefty and David Frizzell and his dad Allen Frizzell. Also included in the show are portraits of George Jones, Craig Morgan, Mark Chesnutt, Billy Yates, Ken Mellons, Brad Paisley, Randy Travis, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Whitey Shafer, Joe Diffie and Gene Watson. The only portrait that will be for sale from this show will be the portrait of Lefty, all other portraits belong to the artists they are of. The show will run from June 2nd through July 15th. There was a good turn out for the reception, the show also included live music, different artists got up and performed their own music including Corey's family.

Corey and his dad, Allen, are guests on the popular Opry radio station WSM 650 AM with hosts Bill Cody and Jennifer Herron. Corey was on to promote his up coming shows at The Renaissance Center and with Billy Yates. Allen was there to promote both shows and his future Country Gospel album due out in July.
